Leadership Team

Learning Hive was founded in 2004 by Rheitta Ohene-Amoako. Ms. Rheitta has a burning desire to create a marriage between a home and an educational setting.  Even though she had experience in the corporate world, it was not enough. Her passion for seeing children succeed socially, intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally in a global arena was a driving force behind her establishing her business in the childcare industry. She took a leap of faith and opened her first childcare program in 2004. She tried to expand her program into accepting more children, but after going through the zoning process which took over three months, she was denied. Unfortunately she had to close down her center in 2008 without the ability to expand it. She was devastated but not defeated. Her dream would not die. She often looked at the classified ads for her next business location. Even though she did not have financing she knew in her heart that if she could dream it and believe it she could conceive it. In 2013 she acquired an existing center and within three years has expanded Learning Hive to 3 locations in Gwinnett county. She has taken the same concept of home and a quality education to brand her programs. The Learning Hive brand stands for excellence as she believes that whatever you do must be done whole heartedly. She now has a place where children can thrive and achieve their highest potential.  She has hired quality staff in her programs to ensure that the vision continues as children continue to receive quality developmental skills in a healthy wholesome environment.

Danita Smith came to Learning Hive from  a background of 16 years in restaurant management. However,   she knew at an early age that her heart’s desire was to positively impact the lives of children. Danita started at a young age babysitting in her community, volunteering at her church in Children’s ministry, in-home and group daycare (Director’s Assistant). Once connected to Learning Hive, she learned their mission, vision and overall goal of the owner’s, which  solidified her passion to pursue her known  purpose with this organization. Danita has been with Learning Hive since 2013, starting as the p.m. Preschool teacher, then venturing through the other age groups. She quickly learned the childcare business and became the center director at Learning Hive-Lawrenceville.  Danita feels she is right where she is supposed to be at this time in her life, actively involved in  providing love, support , encouragement, structure and a difference in children’s lives, while being responsible for the day to day business activities, which is her second love.  Danita enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and family, reading, watching movies, exercising, and keeping up on her studies to finish her Bachelor’s in

“As a working Mom, it’s reassuring to know that my daughter is not only being well taken care of, but she enjoys experiencing new things in a fun environment. The friendly teachers take time to make sure her homework is done and helps her with it if she needs it. It feels good knowing my daughter loves attending Learning Hive. Danielle loves to cook every Thursday among other things.
